Day 37

Each footfall echoed off of the high stone cliffs and brought a shiver down Kai's spine. He couldn't shake the feelings that someone was staring at his back. Throughout the day, he repeatedly snapped his head around but saw nothing.

As the sun reached it's zenith, Kai once more thought he heard something from behind. At first he ignored it as paranoia, but eventually the regularity of the disturbances convince him.

"Caleb, I hear something!" Kai whispered through gritted teeth.

"They're about half a day behind us. The pass carries the sound; they are not as close as they seem." replied Caleb as he stopped walking and looked back into their wake.

"How can you be so matter-of-fact about this?" blurted out Kai, finally giving in to the confused frustration over Caleb's massive personality shift.

"We have to keep walking, let's go." began Caleb as he walked on. He continued, "Whilst I had settled as a humble fisherman for the last few years, my life was not always so peaceful. Let's leave it at that for now, we can talk all we want later."
