Caleb moved to wake Kai, but saw his companion had slept about as much as himself; they shared a grim knowing smile.
"So, why were those men after you. Were the after the artifact, is that what Nali died for?" said Caleb.

"The artifact is proof that I have found the mythical new homeland of legend for my people." answered Kai.
"And Morguloth doesn’t want that because?" inquired Caleb.
"He is an evil man, with evil plans. His wealth and power grow on the back of the people's fear. The artifact is a symbol of hope; if the people aren't afraid, they would not submit to his will with such ease." explained Kai.
