Day 24

Standing on the edge of the cliff, Caleb spread his arms wide open and took a deep breath. He could feel the now cold mountain wind tearing at his face. Before him lay a vista of epic beauty; the clean air providing the perfect playground for the sunlight reflecting and refracting off and through the ice peaks of the distant mountain range.

Taking one last look then closing his eyes, he prepared himself for the jump. One more peak. His back muscles tensed. His legs twitched. One final breath. He bent his knees. Eyes snapped open.

He felt weightless. Then suddenly he was very aware of his mass as he sailed through the air. Stone rushed up on one side of him, the towering waterfall behind. Impending death raced all around him. The cold air cut his skin.

Kai stared at where Caleb had been standing speechless. He was really gonna have to do this wasn't he?
