"Morguloth and his minions needs no reason to do evil, it is simply what comes naturally to them." said Kai as he looked away from Caleb, the man's sadness to much to bare.
Kai stood up and walked over towards Caleb and put his hand on the man's shoulder. Caleb flinched at the unexpected touch, but Kai began talking again, "I'm afraid your wife was simply collateral damage; they were after me and the artifact, and she was simply in the way."
"In the way?" shouted Caleb, tears now streaming down both sides of his face, "She was picking vegetables for dinner! A helpless woman, the most gentle, kindest, most beautiful woman in the world! How was she in the way?"
"As I said, they are the very embodiment of evil, to them her very presence was enough of a justification for what they did." said Kai while looking away, back up towards where they jumped from.
