The foliage slapped Caleb in the face as he trampled through the jungle. He could could hear Kai trying to keep up behind him, but he couldn't afford to look back to check on him.
They broke out of the jungle and burst out into a clearing, the sudden open space felt refreshing, yet incredibly unsafe.
Behind them in the jungle they could hear the two man making their way towards them, their swords cutting a swath through the vegetation in their way.
The clearing provided a line of sight to the mountain Caleb was heading towards, he pointed and said,"There! There are some caves we can hide in, they'll never find us."
At this point, Kai was completely dependent on Caleb, so it's not like he had much of a choice, but he liked the idea.
Caleb sprinted off back into the jungle on the other side of the clearing, Kai close behind.
