Caleb was certainly not convinced and
was started to look around for something they could use as a rope,
when Kai interrupted him.
Kai said, "Just hold on to the
artifact. Please."
Caleb dismissed Kai with a shake of his
head and continued his search, but was interrupted again.
Kai repeated himself, "Hold onto
it please, I think I've got it."
Caleb just ignored him, bending over
and grabbing a piece of dry vegetation that might serve as the
beginnings of a rope.
Kai insisted, "Grab the damn stone
will you?!"
Shocked by the ambassador's outburst,
Caleb decided to indulge him; the sooner they got this out of the way
the better.
The moment Caleb grabbed the artifact,
he felt an odd energy flowing through him; as if he were being
flooded by light. The world grew brighter and brighter; until all
that remained was a bright white oblivion.
