Caleb swiveled on his left heel and quietly screamed, "Kai, run!". Without checking if Kai was following, or if he'd even heard, Caleb sprinted off back towards the bridge and chasm. Kai did hear, and after a few moments of confusion and a quick glance down towards the farm, he too sprinted off after Caleb.
Caleb slowed slightly to allow Kai to catch up to him. As the two ran side by side, they took subconscious turns looking back towards the farm. Between deep breaths, Kai managed to say, "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry."
Caleb let out a sigh as he ran and replied between labored gasps, "It is not your fault. You are not the bad guy. And someday we'll find a way to pay them back. For everything they've done. But for now...We need to get away."
They came to an abrupt stop as they arrived at the bridge. Bent over, with a hand on each knee, Kai asked, "How are we going to get down? We don't have any rope."
