Once more, Kai was stunned. How on earth were they supposed to kill this monster that several hunting parties had not been able to? Maybe Caleb had some sort of secret plan to escape during the hunt? Desperately seeking confirmation, Kai asked, "I see, so the plan is to just escape during the hunt, since they wouldn't dare follow us into the forest, right?"
Caleb shook his head once more and said, "We can't do that either. We wouldn't know where to go, we need to gain time until we can find out where the next gate is."
In what was now becoming their usual, one of the two was rather overwhelmed during a conversation; in this case it was Kai. In an attempt to reconnect with reality Kai asked, "So, let me get this straight; you are genuinely suggesting we offer to go into the dark forest and kill the evil monster?"
Caleb replied, "Exactly."
