Kai smiled and said, "A good night's sleep and a hearty breakfast, what else could a man want?"
Caleb thought the attitude odd, given his companion's reaction to his plan the night before, but he was grateful for it regardless. He stood and walked towards his own platter of food. He grabbed a freshly baked bread roll, ripped off a chunk and spoke as he ate, "Well, we're certainly going to need the energy; even with the artifact, it's not going to be easy taking down the forest beast."
Kai's smile faded slightly and he paled just a bit as he asked, "And you're sure that's our only option?"
Caleb grabbed a couple grapes from the tray and before popping them into his mouth replied, "I don't see how else we can get out of this? Do you?"
Kai looked down, closed his eyes and mumbled, "No."
