Kai seemed enthralled by the artifact, but he managed to look away and answer, "Part of the reason the artifact is so important, is that it glows when in proximity to a portal! That way my people can use it as a sort of guide through the portal network; they say it glows brighter the closer you are to the final portal: paradise."
Caleb nodded, but was still a little lost, "And how does that help us in this situation exactly?"
Kai seemed irritated by the question, "That doesn't help us exactly, it's what else the artifact does that is going to help us! I mean, I've never tried it before, but the legend spoke of the glowing, so we can assume the rest is true as well."
